Crop To Cure is a non-profit organization that started in the beginnings of 2009 to benefit local Relay For Life of Poolesville, MD.
It all began when psycho scrapbooker, Louann Brooks, who had been thrown into the caregiver role of her beloved 12 year old black cat, Puck, decided that she needed to do something about raising cancer awareness with the hope of finding a cure!!Honestly, it all began with a gorgeous, little black kitty that brought her unconditional joy! Just 12 short years after adopting him, Puck was officially diagnosed with Small Cell Intestinal Lymphoma in May 2008, but had fought his cancer for several years prior, and ultimately lost his battle on July 18, 2009.
Devastated with her losses (she has also lost a Grandmother and an Aunt to cancer while her Dad is still fighting, and fortunately, an Uncle has been cancer free for several years), Louann has devoted her time, along with her love for scrapbooking and event planning, to raise awareness and funding for cancer research to find a cure to this dreadful disease! And, this could not have been done without the help from MANY wonderful people: Brian, MOM, Aunt T (Terri), Betsy, Cherise, Dale & Auntie Julie!!
